MULTICULTURAL DAY!

When: Friday, February 24, 2012
Where: Emerald Heights Elementary School Gym
Time: 6:00 to 8:00 pm

EMPTA is hosting its first Multicultural Day! There will be music and dance performances from cultures around the world.

We need your help though! We need students to create a board about a country of their choice. We are asking that you think about your cultural background and create a display that reflects your heritage. The board MUST contain the following information– country’s name, a map, the language spoken, and type of currency.

Then pick a focus for the rest of the board! Focus ideas can be about food, clothing, more on language, religion, government, dance, music, holidays, traditions, you decide!

Sweets and Scrabble Festival

Grab a friend, parent or teacher and come join us for an evening of Scrabble Fun.

Barnes and Noble Night!

Hello to all Emerald Heights Families! Welcome to December! Just a reminder that the Barnes and Noble night for the Library is coming up. It is on December 8 (Thursday) from 6-8pm. This is a fabulous way to come out and support our Emerald Heights Library.

PTA will be there all day providing giftwrapping for shoppers. If you are available to be a giftwrapper, please reply to this post or e-mail: emeraldheightspta@yahoo.com with the time you are available. It could be an hour or it could be three. We are always thankful for any time you are able to volunteer. The store provides the wrapping paper and supplies. It is fun and a great way to support the Library.

Staff Luncheon

Traditionally during Conferences, PTA provides lunch for the staff one day. We would like to provide a warm meal on Monday, November 21. Monster Mash

Looking for a safe and fun way to celebrate fall? Come on out to the Emerald Heights gym on Friday, October 28th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. All are welcome to come dressed in their favorite costume (schools guidelines apply – no full mask or makeup, no weapons of any kind). We will have games, goodies, costume contest and many other fun activities. The cost is $2 per person or a $10 max per family.

Reflections

The PTSA Reflection program’s theme for this year is, “Diversity Means…”.

The Reflections Program is an annual arts recognition and achievement program that offers students the opportunity to create and submit works of art in six areas:

-Dance/ Choreography
-Film Production
-Literature
-Musical Composition
-Photography
-Visual Arts

The deadline for entries is November 14th.

PTA Staff Luncheon

Good Morning,

PTA’s goal for the staff this year was 90%. We have reached our goal!!! YAY!!! We would like to provide the teachers and staff with a luncheon on October 6th. We are planning on having a salad bar and dessert bar. Below is a sign up list for the items we need. If you have any questions, please let us know. That is a Thursday so we would like the donations by 1:00 so we can set up. Thanks in advance for your time and effort. FYI – We have a teacher with a severe nut allergy. If you use nuts of any sort, please indicate that on your dish.
